Gone by Michael Grant

This is an interesting new series I found. I am doing book one for now, and the rest of the series will probably have just one post.

Summary:  Gone focuses on a town where everyone 15 or older disappears. Gone. The kids that are left have to figure out how to stay in this new world. Somehow a barrier, like a sphere, surrounds the nearby power plant in a 10 mile radius, which happens to include the town. There is no exit or connection to the outside world, and now some kids are developing abilities. They call the source of these new abilities "the power." Sam, the main character, has to deal with an invading school, mutated coyotes, his new power, the big problem of how to get out of their world, and the fact that his 15th birthday is coming soon.

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐✩

Language:  Mild

Sexual Content:  They mention kissing a couple times.

Violence:  Modorate.  There are a few scenes where the kids fight each other, and some little kids do die. One guy loses an arm.

Age Range:  12 and up for violence and mild language.

Why I recommend this book:  This first book in the Gone series starts out with lots of mystery. The kids have to deal with their new situation, and there always seems to be another problem to fix. The book moves well, with different events leading into future circumstances and decisions. If you like the end of the world as you know it, kids with superpowers, and a thrilling novel, then I recommend this book to you.
